Preparation Suggestions:

  • Put flour in the bottom of the pan to avoid pie crust sticking to the bottom of your pan.
  • As a general rule, if the pie requires baking the filling, don’t pre-bake the pie shell.
  • Suggestions for baking the bottom crust.
    1. Preheat your oven to a slightly higher temperature (25-50 degrees) while also preheating the cookie sheet.
    2. Place the pie on the preheated cookie sheet, place onto the bottom oven rack, and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
    3. Reduce the oven temperature according to the baking directions.

The initial high temperature helps the pie crust to brown, and reducing the temperature allows the filling to cook thoroughly before the bottom pie crust burns. We do suggest that you check the pie crust periodically, and if you see the pie crust becoming too brown, cover the edges with aluminum foil.

Q: Do you offer coupons for Mrs. Smith’s® products?
A:  Periodically, we have product coupons inserted into local newspapers in major distribution areas where our products are sold. Some stores use instant coupon machines to offer manufacturer's product coupons. We suggest you also watch your local store advertisements for special price offers.

Q: What does the Date Code indicate on Mrs. Smith’s® products?
A:  We do not post shelf life or expiration dates, but we do indicate the production date on each product. The majority of our frozen desserts have a recommended frozen shelf life of at least 12-18 months. Frozen products, as long as they are properly stored and kept frozen solid, will generally last even longer than their suggested shelf life. All distributors of our products should use the production date code for rotation of inventory.
