My pie crust turned out puffy. How can I prevent this?

My pie crust burned around the edges. What happened?
Any one of these solutions (or a combination of all) should correct your problem:
  • Lower the oven temperature
  • Center the pie crust in the oven using the middle-rack position
  • Reduce the baking time
My pie crust had a raw bottom but the top was fully baked. How can I prevent this?
Any one of the following could have caused your crust to do this:
  • Oven temperature may be too high. Try reducing the temperature before baking.
  • Oven not preheated before baking pie crust. Always preheat oven according to package directions.
  • Pie crust placed too close to heating elements. Use the middle rack in the oven.
